About SSIO Organization

The Sathya Sai International Organization (SSIO) is a free, non-denominational voluntary organisation based in 126 countries. Its members come from all faiths and share a common goal: to reach the ultimate goal of realisation of their innate divinity by practising the teachings of love and service taught by their spiritual teacher, Sathya Sai Baba.

At the core of the organization is the individual who believes in the assumption of personal responsibility for ethical transformation through selfless love and service. The membership is free and open to all. Typically, individual seekers of love and peace, drawn by the experiences of friends and family members, come to their local or regional Sathya Sai centers for participation in weekly group spiritual singing together with other devotional and spiritual activities, and also to volunteer in regular service activities such as giving food to the needy, organizing medical camps and medical services, and other forms of civic volunteerism.

The premise of Sathya Sai Centers is that they provide a space for a spiritual meeting of like-minded individuals, a communion of good-desiring people of all faiths. In such a space, sincere seekers, students of spirituality, and service-minded volunteers gather for spiritual singing, devotional spiritual activities  and to study the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba. The goal of participation is ultimately the transformation of self and society into a place of selfless love, a place where the recognition of the divinity innate in humanity becomes possible. The living ideal of the SSIO is the cultivation of oneness with others, family, community, nation and world.

The SSIO consists of about 2000 Sathya Sai Centres. Centre activities are coordinated by voluntary organizational leaders working at regional, national and international levels according to the broad guidelines and ideas envisioned by the governing bodies of the organization, the Sri Sathya Sai World Foundation and Prashanthi Council. The most important aspect of the organization though is the fact that every day of the year, somewhere on this earth, a man, woman or child who desperately needs respite from some material problem like hunger or illness, and equally, a sign of kindness and love, gets both from volunteers of the Sathya Sai Centers. For members of the SSIO, service is not a mere gesture, but something that is rendered voluntarily, wholeheartedly and with the greatest of joy and love. The Organization helps sustain, in thoughts, words, and actions, the legacy of love created by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The SSIO is governed by the Sathya Sai World Foundation (SSWF) and the Prasanthi Council (PC). In addition, there are Committees appointed by the SSWF that help administration of day-to-day activities.
